Fourth Year Curriculum
In their final year, medical students
further develop their clinical skills through rotations in surgical
subspecialties, in an acting internship, in substance abuse, in geriatrics,
and in electives in both clinical and basic sciences. The
longitudinal continuum of community medicine is available by selecting
from among a variety of month-long or longitudinal ambulatory
rotations with special populations, along with the opportunity to elect
a primary care project.
The elective program at EVMS is
designed to provides students with an opportunity to plan a
significant part of their educational experience. Electives are
chosen by the student with the assistance and approval of a faculty
advisor. Students may choose electives to strengthen their
knowledge in areas in which they feel deficient, to explore areas of
particular interest, or to add new dimensions to their base of
knowledge and experience.
