8-24-16: Meal Card tips -

  • The cards are reloadable.  At the end of each academic year, the trainee’s card will be reloaded with their new amount on it.  Any money leftover will roll over to the next year. (example: $20 remains and $200 is added - New amount: $220)
  • The cards are magnetize.  Just like hotel keys, try not to put them near your cellphone and such
  • If a card needs to be replaced, the trainee is to see the cafeteria manager Larry for assistance.
  • And please assist us in keeping the cost down by collecting the cards at the end of your trainee’s educational experience. This applies to EVMS trainees and all rotators.  Each physical card cost $1.50 and that quickly adds up.  Old cards are to returned to Candice George via inter-office mail.  They will be wiped clean of identifying information and then reused.

8-23-16: RAFA - Please share the following information with your residents/fellows/interns:

Starting this month, the Resident and Fellow Association (RAFA) will meet on the fourth Thursday of each month.  The next meeting is this Thursday, August 25th, 5:30pm at Press 626, at 626 W. Olney Rd, Norfolk (Ghent).   Last month’s meeting had a great turnout!!  Come hear what issues and ideas were discussed and share your own ideas for the coming year.  RAFA will take care of the appetizers!    RSVP to Monica Kamien at kamienmd@evms.edu or 446-6191 so we’ll know how many people to expect.  Thanks.

8-17-16: Vertically Integrated Curriculum (VIC) - The Vertically Integrated Curriculum is MANDATORY for all PGY 1s. Entering PGY2 residents, continuing residents, fellows, Pediatrics and Psychology interns are invited but not required to attend.  Please make sure each of the PGY1 residents are schedule and provided protected time to attend each of the three topics. Each topic is provided twice which should allow for attendance.  At least two weeks before each session, residency coordinators must send a list of residents attending the schedule sessions to Ms. Monica Kamien (kamienmd@evms.edu).  Currently, only 3 Programs have RSVPed. Note that progression to PGY2 requires documented attendance at a session for each of the three topics.

8-2-16: Practice Management - An email was sent to Coordinators today asking to register for this year's Practice Management course.  The course will only take place once this year - October 3rd-7th. Registration are due back to Candice George (georgec@evms.edu) by August 19th.

7-6-16: Missing Renewal Licenses - The missing renewal licenses have been reordered and received.  They have been scanned, forwarded to the Programs and is in the process of being uploaded to Ni.
