Career Advising

Medical students are strongly encouraged to visit the AAMC Careers in Medicine Web site to create a personal login and routinely check this site for information and tools to aid them in their career decisions. For career advising in other EVMS programs, students should contact their program personnel directly.

Specific additional information for each of the four years of undergraduate medical education is posted to the EVMS Blackboard site, in a course titled “Career Advising.” All EVMS medical students may be enrolled in this course. Additional programs and seminars targeted to individual class years are offered throughout the academic year. Topics in the Blackboard course include:

  • Noontime Series with Residency Directors
  • Primer to the Match
  • Specialty Selection
  • Away Rotations
  • Letters of Recommendation
  • Personal Statements
  • Writing your CV
  • USMLE tips
  • NRMP Overview
  • Rank Order Lists

Others in the EVMS community who want access to this content should contact Janet L. Winner, Ph.D., in the Office of Education.
