Commencement is an important occasion at EVMS. For our students, it culminates years of exceptional academic performance. It also provides our distinguished faculty an opportunity to celebrate our strong education mission and to seal a life-long bond with our graduates.
The Commencement ceremony begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. and generally lasts about 2 ½ hours. Graduates may invite as many guests as they would like. There are no tickets required for entry. Below is a brief timeline for the day:
8:00 a.m. Exhibition Hall doors open for faculty, official stage party and graduating students.
8:30 a.m. Students must check in for robing at Norfolk Scope Exhibition Hall.
8:30 a.m. Walk-through for clinical embryology students.
8:45 a.m. Arena doors open for family, friends and guests (general admission).
10:00 a.m. Ceremony processional promptly begins.
12:30 p.m. Ceremony concludes (estimated time)*
Note: Following the Ceremony, graduates return to Exhibition Hall for group photos and other activities. It is recommended that graduates do not schedule post-Ceremony events with family and friends until after 1:30pm.
