The Nicholas A. D’Amato, MD Memorial Lecture

Fund and Gift Establishment:

The Nicholas A. D’Amato, MD Memorial Lecture (the “Fund”) was established by the Eastern Virginia Medical School Foundation (Foundation) at the request of the Department of Pathology and Anatomy in memory of Dr. Nicholas D’Amato who passed away on December 23, 2013. Dr. D’Amato, a Navy veteran, who served as Chief of Pathology at Portsmouth Naval Hospital,   and a well-known scholar of medical history joined the EVMS faculty in 1974 and was the founding director of the EVMS History of Medicine division as well as a founding faculty member.

Donations of any amount are welcome to help establish an endowed lecture in his memory. To meet the goal of an endowed lectureship at Eastern Virginia Medical School,  a total of $25,000 in gifts is needed.


Purpose of the Fund:

The Lectureship shall bring distinguished scholars to EVMS to present a lecture, or series of lectures, to physicians, residents, health care professionals and students on topics of interest to Dr. D’Amato.
