Prospective Otolaryngology Residents:
The Interview process begins in the fall and ends in early February of each year. All faculty and residents have input in the interview and ranking order process.
All prospective applicants to the Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery Residency Training Program at Eastern Virginia Medical School are directed to apply through the AAMC Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS). This process is open for applications after September 1st of each year. Otolaryngology residency specialties are considered “Categorical” programs. This simply means that residents are required to take prerequisite training in their PGY1 year.
We suggest that you take the USMLE Step II in the fall of your senior year of medical school so that your scores will be available for faculty in the ranking process. You must be a graduate from a fully accredited U.S. medical school.
If you would like to visit our program prior to the interview process, we suggest you apply for our four-week rotation entitled “Otolaryngology for the Future Surgeon” (OTO-404). Contact the program coordinator for more information.
We will be happy to assist you in making your application process a smooth one.
