    • Dr. Abuhamad currently serves as Professor and Chairman for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia.  He is on the board of the Society of Ultrasound in Medical Education, International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Maternal Fetal Medicine Foundation and Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine.  Dr. Abuhamad is Chairman of the Ob Right Program, a nationally recognized program in patient safety and quality. He is also the current President of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.  He has published numerous papers in peer review journals and has authored two textbooks on fetal echocardiography.  Dr. Abuhamad is well known internationally for his work in ultrasound, prenatal diagnosis, global outreach, and patient safety.

    • Dr. Archer is currently a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia.  In addition he is the Director of the Clinical Research Center located in the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine, Norfolk, Virginia.   He was responsible for the Fellowship Program in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Pittsburgh from 1977 to 1986, and has been the Fellowship Program Director at the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine since July 2001. Dr. Archer has published his research which is translational, focusing on correlating findings in the lab with those in the clinic. He has authored book chapters and has published numerous papers in peer review journals.  Dr. Archer has been invited to present Grand Rounds, and has been a featured speaker at both national and international meetings; receiving the Eastern Virginia Medical School Deans Award for Outstanding Research in 2007.  Dr. Archer is a Board Member of the International Menopause Society and the Chairman for the next Tri-annual meeting.

She is Board certified in Ob/Gyn and Maternal-Fetal Medicine and holds licensure in Virginia and New Mexico.

    • Dr. Doncel joined the EVMS Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1990, where he is currently a Professor. With his pioneer work on microbicides and sperm function inhibitors, Dr. Doncel laid the foundation for CONRAD’s expansion into HIV and multipurpose prevention technologies. He is an accomplished researcher with skills that span basic and clinical science. Dr. Doncel currently is the principal investigator of grants totaling more than $138 million. He is a reviewer for the US National Institutes of Health and the European Commission Directorate General for Research and Innovation, and an expert advisor to the World Health Organization.  He is also a member of scientific advisory boards of several national and international research organizations. Dr. Doncel received the Dean’s Faculty Achievement Award from EVMS in 2009 and is the author of more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications and several U.S. and international patents on antimicrobial contraceptives and microbicides.

    • Dr. Gabelnick received B.S. and M.S. degrees from MIT and his Ph.D. from Princeton University.  After some industrial experience, he joined the Biomedical Engineering Branch at the National Institutes of Health where he worked in the intramural laboratories for a number of years.  He then joined the Contraceptive Development Branch at NIH where he stayed until moving to CONRAD at its inception in 1986. He became the Director of CONRAD in 1990 and was the Executive Director until August 2012 and is now Senior Advisor.

He is a Board-Certified Clinical Laboratory Director with the American Board of Bioanalysts as well as a Board-Certified Tissue Bank Specialist with the American Association of Tissue Banks. Dr. Morshedi has published more than 40 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and is the author of several book chapters covering male infertility. Of note, Dr. Morshedi developed the program that assists couples in whom the man is HIV+ and the female is not.  Through this program, many couples have fulfilled the dream of having healthy and HIV-free children

    • Dr. Oehninger is Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at The Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine; he is also Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Oehninger has numerous publications in the areas of assisted reproductive technologies, IVF–ICSI, sperm function tests, and male infertility and has co-authored two textbooks. Most of his research work focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of infertility, fertilization, and implantation.

      Dr. Oehninger has received multiple academic distinctions including a Fulbright scholarship and awards for his clinical services at EVMS; “Inside Business – Health Care Heroes, Advancements in Health Care” and the 2011 “American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) Star Award”. He is an active member of the ASRM, The Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology, The Society for Gynecological Investigation, The American Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, The European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology, and many other professional organizations. A recognized leader in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, Dr. Oehninger has been an invited speaker for numerous national and international medical meetings. He is fluent in Spanish.

    • Dr. Thurman is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She received her medical degree from University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, Chicago, Illinois and did a combined internship and residency at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD and Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, DC. She has been at EVMS since 2009 and holds the titles of Associate Professor of OB/GYN and Director of Resident Research.

    • Dr. Warsof received his BS from M.I.T. in 1973 &  M.D. from Yale University School of Medicine in 1977. Ob-Gyn Residency at George Washington Univ and MFM Fellowship at King’s College Hospital London, UK and Georgetown Univ. He is Board Certified in Ob-Gyn in 1985 and in MFM in 1987. Despite having life time certification, he has been recertified on an annual basis since 2004. He has been associated with EVMS since 1984.
