Dr. Abuhamad currently serves as Professor and Chairman for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia.  He is on the board of the Society of Ultrasound in Medical Education, International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Maternal Fetal Medicine Foundation and Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine.  Dr. Abuhamad is Chairman of the Ob Right Program, a nationally recognized program in patient safety and quality. He is also the current President of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.  He has published numerous papers in peer review journals and has authored two textbooks on fetal echocardiography.  Dr. Abuhamad is well known internationally for his work in ultrasound, prenatal diagnosis, global outreach, and patient safety.

Dr. Archer is currently a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia.  In addition he is the Director of the Clinical Research Center located in the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine, Norfolk, Virginia.   He was responsible for the Fellowship Program in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Pittsburgh from 1977 to 1986, and has been the Fellowship Program Director at the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine since July 2001. Dr. Archer has published his research which is translational, focusing on correlating findings in the lab with those in the clinic. He has authored book chapters and has published numerous papers in peer review journals.  Dr. Archer has been invited to present Grand Rounds, and has been a featured speaker at both national and international meetings; receiving the Eastern Virginia Medical School Deans Award for Outstanding Research in 2007.  Dr. Archer is a Board Member of the International Menopause Society and the Chairman for the next Tri-annual meeting.

Dr. Berkley has been an Associate Professor in the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine since August, 2007.  She earned doctorate from Eastern Virginia Medical School and subsequently did her residency in Ob/Gyn at the University of Illinois at Chicago.  She completed her fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center in Albuquerque. She is Board certified in Ob/Gyn and Maternal-Fetal Medicine and holds licensure in Virginia and New Mexico.

Dr. Bocca is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia.  She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Dr. Bocca is fully trained in minimally-invasive endoscopic and robotic surgery.  Her particular clinical interests are in infertility, implantation failure, and premature ovarian failure. She authored book chapters and has published numerous papers in peer review journals. Dr. Bocca was awarded the 2011 “Inside Business – Health Care Heroes, Physician-Specialist”. She is fluent in Spanish.

A graduate of Jefferson Medical School, Dr Chauhan did his residency at Portsmouth Naval Hospital and Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship at University of Mississippi, Jackson Mississippi. Having worked in private practice for 12 years, he returned to academic environment in 2011.

Dr. Dattel completed an OB/Gyn residency at the University of California, San Diego. She then completed a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco where she remained on the full time faculty until 1992.In 1992 she joined the faculty at Eastern Virginia Medical School where she is currently Professor and Assistant Dean.

Simulation in Medical Education

Dr. Davis completed medical school at the University of Chicago and trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.  After completing his residency training, he served in the U.S. Navy as an Obstetrician/Gynecologist in Okinawa, Japan and Jacksonville, Florida.  Dr. Davis joined the EVMS faculty in May 2005.

Dr. de Veciana completed her undergraduate degree at Sussex University in the U.K. and her graduate studies at Stanford University.  She subsequently moved to the U.S. and obtained her medical degree at Cornell University. She completed her OB/GYN residency and a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of California at Irvine. In 1994, she was recruited to join the faculty at EVMS in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine where she is the Director of the Diabetes in Pregnancy Program. She is both nationally and internationally recognized for her work in Diabetes in Pregnancy.

Dr. Doncel joined the EVMS Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1990, where he is currently a Professor. With his pioneer work on microbicides and sperm function inhibitors, Dr. Doncel laid the foundation for CONRAD’s expansion into HIV and multipurpose prevention technologies. He is an accomplished researcher with skills that span basic and clinical science. Dr. Doncel currently is the principal investigator of grants totaling more than $138 million. He is a reviewer for the US National Institutes of Health and the European Commission Directorate General for Research and Innovation, and an expert advisor to the World Health Organization.  He is also a member of scientific advisory boards of several national and international research organizations. Dr. Doncel received the Dean’s Faculty Achievement Award from EVMS in 2009 and is the author of more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications and several U.S. and international patents on antimicrobial contraceptives and microbicides.

Dr. Gabelnick received B.S. and M.S. degrees from MIT and his Ph.D. from Princeton University.  After some industrial experience, he joined the Biomedical Engineering Branch at the National Institutes of Health where he worked in the intramural laboratories for a number of years.  He then joined the Contraceptive Development Branch at NIH where he stayed until moving to CONRAD at its inception in 1986. He became the Director of CONRAD in 1990 and was the Executive Director until August 2012 and is now Senior Advisor.

Dr. Gitlin is nationally known in the field of Embryology and Preimplantation Diagnosis. At EVMS, she teaches the course Genetics of Reproduction as well as Molecular Laboratory Techniques in the Clinical Embryology and Andrology Master of Sciences program, is a course director for Ob/Gyn Grand Rounds, serves on the Institutional Review Board, chairs the Conflict of Interest Committee and has mentored numerous medical and graduate students/residents. She currently is the education chairman for the Society of Reproductive Biologists and Technologists, a subsociety of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine that sets standards and guidelines for the field.

Dr. Hill is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He received his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine, Gainesville, FL. He currently holds licensure in Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Wisconsin.

Dr. Kapur received her doctorate from State University of New York at Buffalo, New York, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She completed her residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics at the same university. She is a member of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Kapur is currently serving as an Associate Professor for the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at EVMS.

Dr. Kimble is a Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist. He completed his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania.  He then did his fellowship training at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Kimble is currently a Clinical Investigator for the CONRAD group as well as the attending physician for a gynecology clinic held weekly in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Larson received her BS from University of Colorado, Boulder in 1993 in Aerospace Engineering.  She then served 4 years in the USAF at Armstrong Laboratory in San Antonio, Texas prior to starting medical school at the University of Washington, Seattle, completing her degree in 2003.  She completed her Ob-GYN Residency completed at University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester NY, 2007 and her Fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery completed in 2010 at University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor.  She is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and will be eligible to sit for the Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Boards when they become available in the future.    She has been associated with EVMS since 2010.

Dr. Lukban received his Doctorate of Osteopathy from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and completed his residency at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey.  He completed his Fellowship in Advanced Pelvic Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Lukban is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is licensed in the state of Virginia. He has been with EVMS since 2005 and is currently Director, Division of Urogynecology and Director, Division of Gynecologic Specialties and General Obstetrics. He is also the Director, Princess Anne Urogynecology and Multi-disciplinary Pelvic Floor Clinic at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach.

Dr. Mayer currently serves as Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Eastern Virginia Medical School and the Director of the Jone’s Institute Embryology Lab.  He is currently a commissioner for the Reproductive Laboratory Accreditation Program of the College of American Pathologists.  He also serves as Director of the Distance Learning Master’s Program in Andrology and Embryology.  In addition, he serves as off-site Director for the Jones Institute of the West Penn Allegheny Health System in Pittsburg, PA.

Dr. Miller received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of North Florida, Jacksonville, Florida where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She earned her medical degree and completed her Obstetrics & Gynecology residency at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida where she received many teaching and research awards, including the Outstanding Chief Resident Award. Dr. Miller completed an Externship and Research Collaboration at Kings College Hospital/Fetal Medicine Foundation in London, England and recently completed her Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship at the University of Maryland-Baltimore. Dr. Miller is board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology and an active candidate for certification in Maternal-Fetal Medicine.

Dr. Morshedi is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Director of Andrology, Cryobiology, and Endocrinology laboratories. He is a Board-Certified Clinical Laboratory Director with the American Board of Bioanalysts as well as a Board-Certified Tissue Bank Specialist with the American Association of Tissue Banks. Dr. Morshedi has published more than 40 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and is the author of several book chapters covering male infertility. Of note, Dr. Morshedi developed the program that assists couples in whom the man is HIV+ and the female is not.  Through this program, many couples have fulfilled the dream of having healthy and HIV-free children

Dr. Nowroozi is a Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist. She completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York Medical College.  She then did her fellowship training at New York Medical College, as well. Dr. Nowroozi has been practicing Obstetrics and Gynecology at Eastern Virginia Medical School for over 30 years.

Dr. Oehninger is Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at The Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine; he is also Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Oehninger has numerous publications in the areas of assisted reproductive technologies, IVF–ICSI, sperm function tests, and male infertility and has co-authored two textbooks. Most of his research work focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of infertility, fertilization, and implantation.

Dr. Oehninger has received multiple academic distinctions including a Fulbright scholarship and awards for his clinical services at EVMS; “Inside Business – Health Care Heroes, Advancements in Health Care” and the 2011 “American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) Star Award”. He is an active member of the ASRM, The Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology, The Society for Gynecological Investigation, The American Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, The European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology, and many other professional organizations. A recognized leader in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, Dr. Oehninger has been an invited speaker for numerous national and international medical meetings. He is fluent in Spanish.

Dr. Stadtmauer is currently a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia.  She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Dr. Stadtmauer is fully trained in minimally-invasive endoscopic and robotic surgery. Her particular clinical interests are in infertility, uterine fibroids and anomalies and polycystic ovary syndrome. She authored book chapters and has published more than 50 in peer review journals.

Dr. Thurman is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She received her medical degree from University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, Chicago, Illinois and did a combined internship and residency at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD and Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, DC. Dr. Warsof received his BS from M.I.T. in 1973 &  M.D. from Yale University School of Medicine in 1977. Ob-Gyn Residency at George Washington Univ and MFM Fellowship at King’s College Hospital London, UK and Georgetown Univ. He is Board Certified in Ob-Gyn in 1985 and in MFM in 1987. Despite having life time certification, he has been recertified on an annual basis since 2004. He has been associated with EVMS since 1984.
