Sleep Medicine Research Opportunities

The Sleep Medicine Fellowship program at EVMS requires that fellows participate in a research project during their one-year program and that they demonstrate evidence of recent research productivity through a publication in a peer-reviewed journal and/ or an abstract accepted at a national meeting for poster or podium presentation. The program encourages the “scholarship of discovery” with fellow and faculty participation in journal clubs, case presentations, hospital rounds and didactic sessions. The Sleep Medicine program has performed a variety of sleep research studies (including the use of a driving simulator to research sleepiness and driving performance), and there will be ample opportunity for a fellow to select his/her own research study.

J. Catesby Ware, Ph.D has been designated as the primary research mentor; his role is to facilitate an efficient launching of a research project. The sleep fellow may also align with a secondary research mentor.
