    • Phyllis Woodson, a graduate of Virginia Tech, is a Registered Dietitian/Diabetes Nutrition Specialist and a Certified Diabetes Educator. She has worked at EVMS since 1990 and spends one day a week at Maternal-Fetal Medicine working with high-risk pregnancies including gestational diabetes. She is experienced in medical nutrition therapy and diabetes management, behavior modification, and blood glucose pattern management including insulin adjustment. She provides nutrition consultation in many areas including diabetes, weight management, hyperlipidemia, renal nutrition, gastric bypass surgery, pregnancy, gastroparesis, and celiac disease. She works with the Diabetes Self Management Education program for individuals and groups and lectures in many areas including the above mentioned topics. She is frequently interviewed by the print and electronic media. She enjoys helping individuals with diabetes improve their overall health and well-being and integrate diabetes self care into their daily routine. Her interest is in improving resiliency and longevity. She has served as President of the Virginia Dietetic Association, on the board of the American Association of Diabetes Educators, and on the Virginia Diabetes Council since 1998.
