About

Division of Cardiology

The division of cardiology consists of over 40 volunteer community cardiologists working closely with the full time EVMS internal medicine faculty. The teaching venues are varied, providing a broad and deep cardiology experience. The cardiology rotation at Sentara Leigh Hospital provides a broad exposure to common every day cardiac problems. This rotation also provides an opportunity to learn the elements of clinical reasoning, under the direction of Dr. Brush. The cardiology rotation at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital provides a deep exposure to complex cardiac conditions and to tertiary care such as cardiac transplantation and TAVR. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital has been regarded as one of the top hospitals for cardiac care in the country for the last decade.  Cardiologists participating in this rotation include Drs. Herre, Bhasin, Mahoney, Robertson, Talreja, and other nationally recognized experts. These two rotations are supplemented by other rotations at the Hampton Veteran Administration Hospital and by multiple opportunities for outpatient electives and electives at other area hospitals.
