Ghent Family Medicine Residency Program Director
Sunil S. Menawat, MD
I have been in graduate medical education for 16 years, but not always in Family Medicine. I graduated from West Virginia School of Medicine and completed a surgery residency at University of Florida and a two-year Academic Vascular Surgery Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. My training in family medicine was at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn MI.
I saw the light and chose Family Medicine in 2003. I started a brand new family medicine program at a small community hospital in Michigan. After stabilizing that program and handing it over to a faculty group with patients to support it, I joined the Ghent Family Medicine Program because I liked the excellent mix of community, faculty, and hospital at Ghent. It is a great place to train patient centered family physician. The program is strong in the basics but flexible enough to allow residents to reach their goals whatever they are.
