GFM Program Leadership

GFM Program Director

I have been in graduate medical education for 18 years, but not always in Family Medicine. I graduated from West Virginia School of Medicine and completed a surgery residency at University of Florida and a two-year Academic Vascular Surgery Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic.  My training in family medicine was at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn MI.

I chose Family Medicine in 2003, and in 2007 I started a brand new family medicine program at a small community hospital in Michigan.  After stabilizing that program and handing it over to a faculty group with patients to support it, I joined Ghent Family Medicine as Program Director. I choose Ghent because I liked the excellent mix of community, faculty, and hospital here. As I enter my fourth year at this position I feel that Ghent Family medicine is a great place to train for a patient centered family physician. The program is strong in the basics. It prepares the graduate to be comfortable with providing both Inpatient and Outpatient care for their patients. The program is flexible enough to allow strong residents to reach their potential and prepare them for their future goals whatever they are.

I encourage applicants to look at this program in depth. If you are selected for an interview, I look forward to meeting each one of you and talking about how we can help you achieve your goals in life.
