Women's Health

The Ghent Family Medicine women’s health tailored experience  is designed to provide residents with an interest in women’s health additional knowledge and skills in order to prepare them to provide improved services women’s health care.  Residents who choose this opportunity will be encouraged to choose a research topic pertaining to women’s health and it’s subspecialties for their QI and/or research activity. 

When a resident has interest in the women’s health, they should meet with the program director within the first 6 months of their residency to help establish goals for their residency goals.  If the resident knows they have interest in women’s health before beginning their residency, it is recommended to express this as soon as the match is finished.  This way, the new resident can be matched with a women’s health care family physician advisor.  If a resident has future interest in a women’s health (or it’s subspecialties) fellowship program after residency, this too should be expressed as soon as possible.
