How to Apply to Dermatology Residency Program
The Dermatology Residency program is an advanced program. Applicants must have completed one year of training in an accredited broad-based residency program prior to beginning the PGY-2 year in Dermatology. Acceptable broad-based PGY-1 programs include a transitional year, or a first year residency in emergency medicine, family medicine, general surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics & gynecology, or pediatrics.
The Dermatology Residency program accepts applications only through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS) through our participation in the National Resident Match Program (NRMP). The application must include all of the following:
- NRMP application form
- Medical school dean’s letter
- Medical school transcript
- Three (3) letters of recommendation
- United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) scores. Step 1 is required; Step 2 is optional but preferred. A first- time passing score on the written (USMLE) Step 1 and Step 2 is necessary for entrance into our residency program.
- Personal statement
After receiving your application through ERAS, the Residency Program Administration reviews candidate applications and selects individuals who qualify for interviews. Interviews are by invitation only.
All applicants will be notified by e-mail whether or not they are selected for interviews. Those selected for interviews will choose from a list of dates to visit our program. Interview days consist of tours, an orientation session with the residents, and individual interviews with the faculty.
The deadline for ERAS application submission is November 15th.
