Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer

This viewer allows people who use PowerPoint to share their presentations with people who do not have PowerPoint installed on their computers.  When you post presentations on the Internet, you can include the PowerPoint Viewer to expand your online audience to people who might not have PowerPoint, or to those with different versions.  You can view and print presentations, but you cannot edit them in the PowerPoint Viewer.

Adobe Acrobat Reader

Adobe Acrobat Reader is free, and freely distributable, software that lets you view and print Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files.

Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Shockwave Player

Download Adobe Shockwave Player and Adobe Flash Player for free.  These players will be needed to view some presentations and animations.


Some of the videos and animations that are used in the courses are only viewable via Quicktime.  Make sure you get the right version for your PC. Downloading the free player will meet your needs.

Real Player

Gives you access to RealAudio, RealVideo, live events and more.

Windows Media Player

Some lectures may require the use of Windows Media Player.  Make sure you download the correct version ot the software for your operating system.


This is the best Zip compression utility available.  It will allow you to compress multiple files to a single smaller file.

Google Sketchup

Download Google SketchUp and create, modify and share 3D models for free.  Note that the Pro version is NOT the free version.

There are two accessories required for real-time interaction in the Adobe Connect online classroom; a webcam and a headset with microphone. These are the ones that we highly recommend.  You should not use an internal computer microphone  - you must have a headset.
