Virginia institutions of higher education are being asked to pause for a moment of silence on Veterans Day, November 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.

House Joint Resolution 608 commemorates Veterans Day with a moment of silence throughout the Commonwealth to "honor and remember the great sacrifices and contributions of the heroic men and women of the United States Armed Forces who valiantly served this nation and mankind during World War 1 and subsequent wars" in defense of liberty.

In addition, the Virginia Commission on the Centennial of Woodrow Wilson's Presidency are honoring the native Virginian with a prelude to the moment of silence. Learn more about the commemoration and Joint Resolution 608.
