britt_dinner_0032-webThe 14th Annual L.D. Britt, MD, Scholarship Fund Dinner, presented on Oct. 22 in partnership with SunTrust Bank, featured keynote speaker, Rubens J. Pamies, MD, vice chancellor for academic affairs, dean for graduate studies and professor of internal medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Dr. Pamies, an authority on health-care disparities, discussed how the current health-care crisis is largely driven by inequality in access to health care and quality of health care.

EVMS applauds superhero donors Print E-mail
donor-appreciation_0227Eastern Virginia Medical School hailed the generosity of its supporters Oct. 7 in a ceremony that combined a light-hearted theme with a heart-felt thanks.

EVMS leaders took to the stage dressed in superhero capes and proceeded to bestow the garments as awards to recognize a representative cross-section of donors. The fun was part of the school's annual donor appreciation event.

Largest-Ever MD Class Welcomed to Medical Profession Print E-mail

2009-white_coat_ceremony_8545NORFOLK, VA — Eastern Virginia Medical School officially welcomed the largest medical class in its history Friday with the annual White Coat Ceremony

The 118-student-strong Class of 2013 donned the white coat, a universal symbol of medicine, and recited for the first time the Oath of Hippocrates.

Andrews Hall Dedicated in Memory of Visionary Leader, Dedicated Teacher Print E-mail

Andrews_Hall_Dedication_DSC_8674Eastern Virginia Medical School paid tribute to two major figures in its history on July 29, naming one of its main buildings in honor of Mason C. Andrews, MD, and his brother, William C. Andrews, MD.
