Board of Visitors

The Board of Visitors is the governing body of Eastern Virginia Medical School. The board is composed of 17 members as follows:

• two non-legislative members to be appointed at large by the Governor of Virginia
• two non-legislative members to be appointed by the Senate Committee on Rules
• three non-legislative members to be appointed by the Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates
• six members to be appointed by the Eastern Virginia Medical School Foundation
• four members who shall be appointed by their respective city councils as follows:
  
  • two members from the City of Norfolk
  • one member from the City of Virginia Beach
  • one member appointed by the following city councils in a rotating manner beginning with the City of Chesapeake, the City of Hampton, the City of Portsmouth, the City of Suffolk and the City of Newport News

Unless otherwise noted, all meetings are held in the Burroughs Board Room, fifth floor of Andrews Hall. If you have questions about a meeting location, please call the Office of the President, (757) 446-5200.

Schedule

• The EVMS Board of Visitors meets at 4 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month, as follows:

• The Academic Affairs Committee meets at 4 p.m., as follows:

• The Audit and Compliance Committee meets when necessary in July, September/October, January and April.
• The Executive Committee meets when necessary.
• The Finance Committee meets at 4 p.m. (unless otherwise noted), as follows:

• The Honorary Degrees Committee meets when necessary.
• The Joint Conference Committee meets twice annually.
• The Trusteeship Committee meets when necessary.
