The EVMS Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine is devoted to excellence in patient care. Our faculty physicians are leaders in their field and provide comprehensive and multi-disciplinary diagnosis and treatment of lung problems and critical illness.

Services:

  • Critical care management for patients in the general ICU and neurosurgical ICU.
  • Inpatient consultations for patients with pulmonary diseases and disorders.
  • Outpatient care for patients with ongoing pulmonary conditions at the EVMS pulmonary clinic.
Our physician specialists work with many specialties to provide comprehensive care. In collaboration with specialists in thoracic radiology and thoracic surgery,  pulmonary medicine specialists take advantage of advanced diagnostic techniques involving thoracoscopy and transthoracic needle biopsy.

The Pulmonary Laboratory performs routine tests, including spirometry, diffusing capacity, exercise testing and blood gasanalysis, as well as evaluation of muscle function and lung volumes. We also collaborate closely with our colleagues in our world-renowned sleep laboratory. We use state-of the art hemodynamic monitoring as well as advanced modes of ventilatorsupport. In addition, we have an advanced program in critical care ultrasound.
