Strelitz Diabetes Center: Research

Islet Cell Regeneration

  • Dr. Lawrence Rosenberg of McGill University in Montreal, Canada on the comparison of ilotropin, INGAP15, INGAPP
  • Dr. Donald Dafoe of Stanford University Medical Center on neoislet fetal grafts and the application of INGAP with growth factor on islet cell transplantation
  • Dr. Juan Jose Gargliardino of the Center for Experimental Endocrinology at the University of La Plata in Argentina on islet neogenesis in high sucrose fed hamsters
  • Dr. Sonya Wolfe-Coote and Dr. Johan Louw of the Experimental Biology Programme, Capetown on islet cell regeneration in monkeys
  • Dr. Naomi Levitt and Dr. Philip Kay of the University of Capetown Medical Center on islet cell neogenesis in alcohol induced pancreatitis and other human diseases
  • Dr. Helena Edlund of Umea University in Sweden on gene and protein expression in the pancreatic development on the mouse
  • Dr. Camillo Ricordi of the University of Miami on research of piglet islet clusters
  • Dr. Gerald Gold and Dr. Anne Miller of Eli Lilly and Co. on the role of INGAP in islet neogenesis
  • Dr. J. H. Johnson of Parke-Davis on the role of INGAP in the pancreas of troglitazone-treated diabetic rats.
  • Dr. Ramon Gomis, Hospital Clinic de Barcelona in Spain on the effect of tungstate treatment of diabetic rats on INGAP expression.
  • Dr. Ed Leiter of Jackson Laboratory, Maine on the effects of genetic manipulation on the expression of INGAP.
  • Dr. David Harlan at the NIH in Bethesda, Maryland looking at transgenic models for INGAP over-expression and knockout.
  • Dr. Timo Otonkoski at the University of Helsinki in Finland to examine the effects of INGAP on pancreatic islet development in vitro.
  • Dr. Guy Rousseau and Dr. Patrick Jacquemin at the Universite Catholique de Louvain in Brussels to examine the expression of INGAP during pancreatic development in the fetus.
