Eastern Virginia Medical School offers rare Pathology experience

Do your biopsy results give you information that is descriptive and meaningful? As an expert in dermatopathology, Antoinette F. Hood, M.D., Professor and Chair, Department of Dermatology, provides information that will help you arrive at a specific diagnosis of one of the more than 3,000 dermatologic diseases.

The Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) Dermatopathology Consultative Services offer dermatopathological expertise along with the skills of a practicing clinical dermatologist. Dr. Hood received her medical degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. She completed a Dermatology residency at the Harvard University Department of Dermatology and a Dermatopathology fellowship from the Department of Pathology at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Hood is board-certified in Dermatology and Dermatopathology. She is the Executive Director of the American Board of Dermatology, Chairperson of the Distance Learning Committee of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology, International Journal of Dermatology and the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.

For the primary-care physician, Dr. Hood provides diagnoses that aid in developing a treatment plan, guiding therapy and educating patients about the nature of their disease. For the dermatologist, this consult provides follow-up for difficult clinical problems, helps define sophisticated clinical cases and use these examples to educate future physicians.

Attracting new clients is a first step - building lasting client relationships is the ultimate goal.
