Needs:   The prevalence of diabetes has approximately doubled since 1995. Virginia prevalence rate trends have paralleled U.S. trends.In the last couple of years, the rates have been almost identical.  Diabetes mortality rates vary by geographic region with the Southwest and Central regions of Virginia suffer the greatest mortality from diabetes.
