2016 Greater Hampton Roads Population Health Summit
On July 29, 2016, The Brock Institute in conjunction with Sentara Healthcare, on behalf of the Eastern Regional Accountable Care Community Working Group, welcomed Mr. Nick Macchione as the keynote speaker for the first Greater Hampton Roads Population Health Summit. The meeting was held at the YMCA of South Hampton Roads Corporate Offices in Chesapeake, Virginia.
The purpose of the summit was to gather individuals from a variety of backgrounds, agencies and organizations who have an interest in helping the greater Hampton Roads area to become a healthier community.
Many area leaders have been actively involved in statewide efforts to help facilitate regional conversations to address significant health issues and to advance Virginia's Plan for Well-Being.
Present were Dr. Lilian Peake, Deputy Commissioner from the Virginia Department of Health, as well as representatives from many area hospitals and health systems and other organizations who have existing health community efforts:
- The Consortium for Infant and Child Health
- Eastern Shore Healthy Communities
- Hampton Roads Community Foundation - Early Care and Education Initiative
- Healthy Chesapeake
- Healthy Norfolk
- Healthy Portsmouth
- Healthy Virginia Beach
- The Planning Council
- United Way of South Hampton Roads - United for Children
The first Hampton Roads Population Health Summit was a kick-off event, helping to propel the region forward to become a healthier community.
