EVMS: Global Health Learning Opportunities (GHLO) Home/Host School

The Global Health Learning Opportunities (GHLO) Collaborative facilitates global mobility for final year students pursuing clinical, research, or public health electives outside their home country. The GHLO application service utilizes a web-based platform that streamlines the application process for students, enables home schools to endorse student applications and track progress, and host institutions to publish and manage elective offerings, student selection and evaluation. EVMS joined GHLO in 2013 under the joint role of a host and home school. As a home school, EVMS will provide students opportunities to go abroad and complete work for academic credit. As a host school, EVMS will create programs for students from other medical schools around the world to take advantage of. The Public Health Partnership between EVMS and State and Medical Pharmaceutical University of the Republic of Moldova and the exchange program with the Bar Ilan Medical School in Sfat, Israel represent two of EVMS' charter GHLO programs. The GHLO Collaborative functions to engage faculty members, administrators, and the leadership at institutions in curricular sharing, conducting joint research, and create working groups to establish new benchmarks in the global education arena. This will allow for dynamic communication towards innovation and sharing best practices.
