EVMS rector nominated for federal HUD post |

Maurice A. Jones, rector of EVMS' Board of Visitors and publisher of The Virginian-Pilot newspaper, is in the midst of the confirmation process to become deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
President Obama nominated Mr. Jones for the post earlier this year, and, if confirmed, Mr. Jones would manage day-to-day operations of the department. He has been a member of the EVMS Board of Visitors since 2006.

PA program hosting informational sessions Sept. 17 |

Do you know someone interested in becoming a physician assistant? The EVMS Master of Physician Assistant Program opens its doors for an informational session geared toward prospective students on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 10:30 a.m.-noon.

Charity motorcycle ride to benefit EVMS cancer research |

The Virginia Beach Fraternal Order of Eagles is holding a motorcycle ride Sunday, Aug. 14, to raise money for cancer research at EVMS.
The ride begins at the parking lot on the corner of Colley and Brambleton avenues, opposite the Norfolk Department of Health.
Registration opens at 9 a.m., and riders leave the lot at 11 a.m., heading to Knuckleheads Roadhouse at 410 Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach. At Knuckleheads, there will be corn hole games, raffle prizes, a 50/50 raffle and an auction, as well as the band Vinyl Highlight.
Riders should show up early to register, but even if you don’t have a bike, you can support EVMS by joining the fun at Knuckleheads beginning at noon. |
