Tips for Responding to Emergency Situations

How will I know? In the event of a campus emergency, notification about the status of the event and recovery effort will be communicated in a variety of ways, including campus email and signs around campus.

EVMS may also choose to use one or more of the following:

  • Rave Alert is a mass notification system that can alert the EVMS community and others with text messages on their cell phones. Rave Alert also enables EVMS to send important messages via web.
  • The EVMS Web site (www.evms.edu) will be used as appropriate to communicate emergency information such as security alerts and weather-related closings (view EVMS' inclement weather policy). Information may also be recorded on the school's main phone number, 446-5600.
  • External media, such as TV or radio, will be used as appropriate to broadcast emergency information, particularly weather-related closings.
