From time to time we receive updates of new viruses and
request that you update your antivirus software; for this reason we ask that you retain
these instructions for future reference. If you have any questions, please feel free to
call the Academic Computer Center at 446-5871.
As of April, 2002, the Academic Computer Center will be installing a new Anti-Virus program called AVG whenever we install or work on desktop systems. The
AVG Anti-Virus application has improved functionality with Outlook and Windows 2000. It also updates
virus definition files
automatically from the Internet without requiring any intervention by the user.
We will continue to support FPROT where installed until we have completed the AVG installation on all desktops
- If you have FPROT installed on your Windows 95 or Windows 98 system, you can use the following procedure to update your virus definition files:
Double-Click the yellow 'C' in your system tray (lower right-hand corner of the desktop). This will bring up the FPROT Console. In the lower right-hand corner of the FPROT Console, click the "Update Def Files" button.

- If you are running Windows 2000 or you encounter an error dialog which complains about "not being able to find csav.msi file". Please call the Network Center at 446-5871 and we will arrange to promptly update your system with the AVG anti-virus program.
