Emergency Medicine
The Department of Emergency Medicine is proud to serve as a center of excellence in Emergency Medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Family and Community Medicine
The Department of Family and Community Medicine places strong emphasis on community and preventive medicine. Patients are seen at the department's two family practice centers.
Internal Medicine
The Department of Internal Medicine is one of EVMS' most established academic departments, having been one of the founding graduate medical education training programs of the school.
Microbiology and Molecular Cellular Biology
The Department of Microbiology and Molecular Cellular Biology at EVMS serve a variety of major functions for first and second year medical students, as well as research fellows.
Neurology
The Neurology Department are involved in the education of medical students and residents. Of equal importance, neurological aliments such as diabetes and epilepsy are thoroughly researched.
Obstetrics and Gynecology
EVMS' Obstetrics and Gynecology Department offers a broad spectrum of obstetrical and gynecology services, medical divisions and globally recognized research in reproductive medicine.
Ocular Pharmacology
Established in 1998, the Thomas R. Lee Center for Ocular Pharmacology is a multidisciplinary coalition that provides opportunities for students and residents to learn and perform research.
Ophthalmology
Established in 1976 by its founding chair, the EVMS Ophthalmology Program started as a community based training program to meet the needs of the rapidly growing population in Hampton Roads.
Otolaryngology
Our faculty are skilled experts in their chosen subspecialties dedicated to maintaining personal lifelong scholarship by actively participating in the education of our patients and future doctors.
Pathology and Anatomy
Essential current information is taught to medical, physician assistant and graduate students in courses on gross anatomy, histology, neuroscience, and pathology.
Pediatrics
Having over 125 full-time faculty, the Department of Pediatrics has a fully accredited pediatric residency program, providing educational and clinical experiences in all aspects of pediatric medicine.
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
Our areas of expertise include musculoskeletal injury, sports injury, traumatic brain injury,and stroke amputee care for adults and children.
Physiological Sciences
Our mission is to improve human health by educating health care professionals and by advancing biomedical knowledge through cutting edge basic and translational research.
Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences encompasses major educational/training programs that include a variety of clinical internship programs.
Radiation Oncology and Biophysics
Aside from the full range of radiation oncology services, the department is also involved in institutional multidisciplinary cancer research projects, as well as national projects.
Surgery
Our department specializes in surgical oncology, acute care surgery, minimally invasive surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, hand surgery and ophthalmology.
