Photo Gallery of 2006 AnthemLIVE! Tennis Event and Concert

December 8, 2006

More than $400,000 was raised during the AnthemLIVE! tennis exhibition and auction, brainchild of the nation’s number one tennis player, James Blake, who came along with his friends, tennis legend Andre Agassi, world-champion doubles partners Bob and Mike Bryan and Boyd Tinsley of the Dave Mathews Band.

Over the last year, Blake has played in the world’s most prestigious tournaments, and has risen to the top of men’s tennis, but the death of his father from stomach cancer has made him passionate about efforts to help find a cure. While Blake has won trophies and international accolades, “the greatest reward is being able to do things like this today,” he said before the Dec. 7 an exhibition before a near-capacity crowd at Old Dominion University’s Ted Constant Center.

AnthemLIVE!, which returned to Norfolk after its inaugural year in 2005, is sponsored by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and dedicates 100 percent of the proceeds to cancer research, including research at Eastern Virginia Medical School.
