Lester
EVMS President
Harry T. Lester was named president of
EVMS in May 2005. He had served on the EVMS Board of Visitors since
2000, and was rector until July 30, 2005.
A North Carolina native, Lester earned
a degree in Business Administration from Rollins College in Winter Park
Florida in 1967. Upon graduation, he served as an officer in the United
States Navy, which brought him to Hampton Roads. For over thirty years,
he has had a successful career in commercial real estate.
An active community leader, Lester also
serves on the boards of The Norfolk Foundation, the Chesapeake Bay
Foundation, the Hampton Roads Partnership, Virginia Beach Vision, and
the Greater Norfolk Corporation. He is co-chair of Lynnhaven River
2007, an effort to restore this historic Virginia Beach river. He led
The Chrysler Museum of Art’s recent $30 million capital campaign. He
also serves on the Commonwealth Transportation Board and the Chesapeake
Bay Bridge & Tunnel Commission.
