NORFOLK, VA — Eastern Virginia Medical School graduates destined for service in the armed forces were commissioned May 15 aboard the battleship USS Wisconsin in Norfolk.

Navy Cmdr. David J. Damstra, officer-in-charge of Fleet Surgical Team Four, praised the new officers for their dedication to service and urged them to maintain that passion through all the experiences to which they’ll be exposed throughout their time in the military. Retired Army Maj. Gen. T.K. Moffett administered the Oath of Office to the nine graduates and, after closing remarks by Michael Solhaug, MD, associate dean of academic affairs, family and friends were invited to pin the graduates.
